Norwich Family YMCA Youth Development Programs offers swim lessons and school age childcare. Swim lesson options include Parent and Child Lessons, Preschool Lessons, Youth Lessons, and Free Swim Lessons Available Through NY SWIMS. School age childcare includes the Early Morning Program, After School Programs, Fun Club Program, and Early Release Days.
Programs
- Free Swim Lessons Available Through NY SWIMS — children who may otherwise face barriers to participation; children ages 6 months to 3 years; 6 months – 1.5 years of age; 3-5 years; 6-12 years · Program availability and eligibility vary and are determined locally based on community needs and available capacity.
- Parent and Child Lessons — 6 months to 3 years; 6 months – 1.5 years of age · Accompanied in the water by a parent, infants and toddlers learn safe behaviors around the water and develop their in-water skills.
- Preschool Lessons — 3-5 years
- Youth Lessons — 6-12 years · In Learn-to-Swim Youth Level 1 – 6, students are introduced to 6 swimming strokes, both competitive and non-competitive as well as rescue skills and healthy lifestyle habits.
- School Age Childcare — children in Pre K – 6th grade; children in grades Pre K – 6th; children in Kindergarten through 5th grade · Programs include Early Morning Program, After School Programs, Fun Club Program, and Early Release Days.
- Early Morning Program — children in Kindergarten through 5th grade · A welcoming place for children to start their day.
- After School Programs — children in Pre K – 6th grade; children in grades Pre K – 6th; children in Pre Kindergarten through 5th grade · A safe place for children to spend their afternoons having fun with friends. A healthy snack is provided each afternoon.
- Fun Club Program — children in Pre K – 6th grade; children in Pre K – 6th grade
- Early Release Days — children in Pre K – 6th grade · A shortened version of the Fun Club Program for when there is a half day of school.

About the provider
The program mission states, "In the Y we are for Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility." Its leadership team includes Executive Director Jamey Mullen, Fitness Director Shannon Gawronski, Aquatics Director Tucker Norton, Membership Director Cindy Koenig, and Youth Directors Kelly Reppert and Katie Voss. School age childcare programs are licensed and registered through the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS).
