About

One River School of Art + Design – Port Jefferson offers studio art, digital art, design, and animation camps and classes. Camp sessions include specific options such as Procreate camps, photography, video, and iPad classes and camps. All tools and materials are provided for camps and classes, except for specified device-based options that require students to bring their own equipment.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Half-day camp sessions of two and a half hours, with morning, afternoon, and late afternoon options and a 15-minute break each day

One River School's summer camps are led by practicing artists, designers, and animators. Over 100 weekly half and full day camp options are offered over 10 weeks, with the ability to bundle morning and afternoon camps for a full day experience. Lesson plans draw inspiration from contemporary artists, and projects are designed to be age-appropriate, engaging, and reflective of the world. Families can switch into a new camp with availability during the summer, and all tools and materials are provided except for specified device-based camps. The program also offers art and design classes for kids, teens, and adults, including signature Art Shuffle® and Digital Art Shuffle® programs, with small classes, personalized attention, rolling class start dates, flexible makeup options, and high quality art supplies included with monthly class subscriptions, with noted exceptions. The mission of One River School is to transform the summer camp experience by developing creative camps.

Families are asked to pack a light, nut-free snack and a water bottle for camp, and a nut-free lunch if a student is staying for the whole day, and students are advised to wear comfortable, art-friendly clothing. Attending a Procreate camp requires campers to bring their own iPad and stylus, and for photography, video, and iPad classes and camps, each student must bring their own camera or iPad. Drop off for morning camps begins at 8:45 am, with morning sessions running from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm, afternoon sessions from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm, and late afternoon sessions from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

Members have shared feedback such as, “This class is my respite from the world,” “I walk in feeling anxious, but I leave feeling calm and centered,” “The teachers are incredible. I always feels welcome and supported,” and “I am my zen self at one river.”
