Quogue Wildlife Refuge Programs include walking seven miles of trails, exploring diverse habitats such as forests and ponds, and viewing ecologically rare Dwarf Pines in the Pine Barrens. Families can visit the Outdoor Wildlife Complex to see permanently injured owls, falcons, hawks, and other native New York animals that require human care to survive and have become educational ambassadors. The Charles Banks Belt Nature Center offers views of Old Ice Pond, wildlife exhibits, live animals, a nature library, and a gift shop, and programs include options such as “Whale, Dolphins, and Seals, Oh My – a 37 year journey! – Virtual,” “Guided Tour with LI Sierra Club,” “Pine Barrens Family Nature Hike,” “Winter Wildlife Nature Bingo Hike – Session 1,” “Winter Wildlife Nature Bingo Hike – Session 2,” and “Introduction to Birding for Kids.” Dogs, bicycles, and picnicking are not permitted at the preserve.
• Schedule: Free of charge and open 365 days a year from sunrise to sunset; trails, outdoor restrooms, and the Outdoor Wildlife Complex are open from sunrise to sunset, and the Nature Center office, restrooms, gift shop, and indoor animals may be available when the doors are open.
