Beth Sholom Day Camp offers activities that include creative arts and crafts, music, swimming, and weekly Special Events such as Carnival. The program includes a wide array of activities and programs that go beyond traditional sports, along with more than two special events each week. The camp serves over 400 campers and uses extensive indoor facilities for creative and playful activities.

Beth Sholom Day Camp has been in operation for over 60 years. Its stated vision is to cultivate a vibrant camp community that inspires each camper to embrace a spirit of inclusivity and growth, fostering the discovery of their unique potential and the development of lifelong friendships in a nurturing, joyful environment. The program highlights a high counselor-to-camper ratio, a focus on resilience, creativity, and social skills free from digital distractions, and a nurturing approach with personalized attention and a space for growth, confidence, and forming lifelong friendships.
The leadership team includes Director Becky Firestone; Assistant Director Dee Dee Horowitz; Program Director Emily Tobey; Director of Aquatics Jamie Haberstumpf; Director of Food Services Lisa Parker; and Co-Director Athletics Josh Korder. Director Becky Firestone has a Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University and a Master’s in Elementary Education from Hofstra University and has worked for seventeen years in elementary and middle school settings in the Department of Education. Assistant Director Dee Dee Horowitz has a Master’s in Educational Theatre from NYU, a Bachelor’s in Theatre Arts from Stephens College, and experience as an Early Childhood teacher at Forest Hills Jewish Center. Program Director Emily Tobey has a Bachelor’s in Psychology with a Sociology minor from Adelphi University, a Master’s in Childhood Education, and is a teacher with the Department of Education. Director of Aquatics Jamie Haberstumpf has a degree from SUNY Stony Brook, a master’s from Queens College, over 30 years as a NYC teacher, 15 years as an Aquatics Director, and experience in pool management, lifeguard instruction, and water safety, including overseeing swim instruction for over a thousand students each summer at a large Long Island camp. Director of Food Services Lisa Parker managed the dietary needs of over 700 children across three locations at a large Jewish Day School for six years and works with dietary requirements including kashrut. Co-Director Athletics Josh Korder has eight years of experience as an elementary school teacher for the Department of Education and is Head Tennis Coach.
Beth Sholom Day Camp has been recognized by top design publications, websites, and leading industry awards for its website and brochure, which are noted for innovative, results-driven design.
