For more than 100 years, Camp Turner has operated in Allegany State Park. The program welcomes campers of all faiths and states a focus on community living skills, self-care skills, interpersonal skills, values, and spirituality, with a stated reverence for the presence of God in every person, place, and thing. The mission statement lists caring, well-trained, professional staff members, nutritious kid-friendly food, an on-site registered nurse (NP, PA, or MD), adult supervision at all times, structured physical, mental and social activity, and quality educational and recreational programming among its priorities, and notes that horseback riding is offered at no extra cost. The camp also notes that campers trade screens for outdoor activities.

Camp Turner’s cabins are fully weatherized, and it has a modern dining hall that is described as suitable for retreats, reunions, and conferences. The program is open year-round from September to June for retreats, reunions, and conferences in addition to its camp sessions.

The staff description includes caring, well-trained, professional staff members, an on-site registered nurse (NP, PA, or MD), and adult supervision at all times. Leadership development programs are also listed among the camp’s offerings.

Camp Turner mentions camperships (scholarships) for families who may need help with registration fees. Financial assistance for those with demonstrated financial need is available through www.FriendsOfCampTurner.org.
