About
Capital District YMCA Youth Programs include day camps that offer a structured, screen-free environment where kids stay active, build social skills, and take part in age-appropriate activities led by trained staff. The programs also include licensed childcare, which is overseen by the Office of Children and Family Services, and access to facilities that include pools and wellness centers at multiple branch locations. Additional offerings connected to the program include Circle of Champs for families of children facing life-threatening illnesses, LIVESTRONG® for cancer survivors after treatment, and Pedaling for Parkinson’s for patients and caregivers.
The Capital District YMCA Youth Programs are part of a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The organization’s mission is to support, engage, and strengthen the Capital Region community through programs and partnerships focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Its history includes roots in a small program at the Albany YMCA in 1936 that later became part of a nationwide Youth & Government initiative. Community involvement includes teaming up with HMA Contracting, Hamel Real Estate & St. Edwards Church, and the Capital Region Food Pantries to feed families for Thanksgiving through Basket Brigade, organizing food drives for local pantries, and running the Running Start program, which distributes school supplies and clothing to more than 800 kids in need before each school year.
