Sea Cliff Yacht Club Junior Programs include Junior Sailing, Summer Camp, Swim Team, and Sail & Motor Boating. Participants can also take part in racing and cruising, and use the beach and pool as part of the club’s yachting and aquatic sports. The broader club activities connected to the junior programs include adult sailing lessons, Ladies’ Sailing Nights, Sunday Ideal 18 Racing, Thursday Night BBQ’s, holiday parties, Wednesday Night Pub Night, Friday Night Dinners, the Around Long Island Regatta, the Western District Regatta, and a winter Frostbiting season.
Founded in 1892, Sea Cliff Yacht Club is one of the oldest private member-only yacht clubs on Long Island Sound and has a long-established, well-recognized set of summer programs that include Junior Sailing, Swim Team, and Summer Camp. The club describes itself as a family-focused club centered on boating, camaraderie, and the enjoyment of its pool and waterfront, with a family-friendly atmosphere and year-round social activities supported by a strong culture of volunteerism led by an elected Flag and Board under the club’s constitution. Since 1977, the club has hosted the Around Long Island Regatta, and junior sailors from all over Long Island Sound come to compete in the Western District Regatta, which is held at the club. The club maintains a year-round boating community with a winter Frostbiting season and offers a club-owned fleet of Ideal 18 sailboats and paddle boards available to members. The leadership team includes Commodore Keith E. Maler, Vice Commodore Shana Spanier-Ciniski, Rear Commodore Eric Hamm, Secretary Michael Emmert, Treasurer Thomas Rudegeair, General Manager Charles Walsh, Club Counsel Donald Kavanaugh, Fleet Captain Claude Turner, and Governors John Rogers, Cherise Kramer, Fredrick Fuchs, Anthony Dekkers, Michael Pujdak, and Caroline Cho.
