Quinipet Camp & Retreat Center
Quinipet Camp & Retreat Center, 99 Shore Road, Shelter Island Heights, NY 11965
About
Quinipet Camp & Retreat Center includes daily Chapel and Vesper services, skits, songs, and prayer as part of its program. Campers take part in Leave No Trace activities, environmental education, and team building activities. A Spiritual Life Coordinator is present to gather with campers who want to learn more about spirituality, and grace is sung before each meal.
Quinipet Camp & Retreat Center is a Christian camp owned and operated by the New York Conference of The United Methodist Church and is spiritually grounded upon the five rocks of Courage, Love, Faith, Humility, and Honesty. Quinipet is licensed by the New York State Department of Health. The camp is described as a community that is open and affirming to all who come, regardless of religious affiliation, and the NYAC Camping & Retreat Ministry Board of Directors fully accepts all persons identifying as LGBTQIA+ into the life, ministry, and activities of the camp and its sister campsite, Kingswood. Campers do not bring cell phones to camp, and environmental education is woven into the program. Quinipet has been owned and operated since 1947 by the New York Conference of The United Methodist Church, which states a belief that God gave earth and humankind and that loving faithful Christians are to love and care for each of these, with the hope that each camper will grow in new experiences and in their spiritual walk with God.
The leadership team includes Shauna D'Arcy as Interim Executive Director, Lauren Traskos as Retreats and Registration Coordinator, Reggie Johnson as Food Service Manager, and Graeme Baker as Property Manager.
