• Ages: 0–12 years old
• Schedule: Open Monday through Friday, 5:45am to 6:00pm, with before and after-school care, an in-house summer program for children ages 5–8, and a summer camp program for children ages 8–12.
Cullman Child Development Center was founded in 1992 as a not-for-profit organization and has operated for over 32 years. The program uses a developmentally based, child-centered, teacher-directed environment with a unique, cognitively oriented, developmentally appropriate, success-based curriculum and Montessori-inspired learning strategies. It includes a robust social and emotional curriculum that uses evidence-based practices such as mindfulness, peer collaboration, and conflict resolution, and offers space for families to explore coping mechanisms and build emotional resilience together. The Center’s farm-to-table nutrition and obesity prevention program includes gardening activities that teach the origins of food, sustainable practices, and healthy eating, supported by an on-site greenhouse. The Director’s office is located at the entrance, and safety features include an electronic door system activated with a Cullman Center-issued pass code unique to each parent, a heated sidewalk that melts ice and snow in winter, and glass inserts in all doors that prevent door-related injuries. The staff is described as highly trained and collaborates closely with families.
The mission of Cullman Child Development Center is to empower families and provide children with a strong foundation for future success, bridging play-based experiences with preparation for school and serving as a community focused on growth, learning, and opportunity. The Center serves families in Broome, Chenango, Delaware, and Otsego counties with high-quality early childhood education and affordable, flexible childcare. Parent testimonials describe children who are happy at pick-up, excited for each day, eager to share what they have done, and bringing home artwork that involves concentration and strength, and they express satisfaction with the care, the Montessori program, and the work of specific teachers.
