Art Lab Youth Classes and Art Camps offers activities such as drawing, painting, printmaking, watercolor, stained glass, mosaic, knitting, crochet, ceramic handbuilding, jewelry making, digital photography, darkroom printing, mixed media classes, comic book art, fashion, anime, and sculpture. The program also offers focused workshops including a Color & Light workshop, a Silk Scarf Painting workshop, and an Up Close Photography workshop. Art Lab hosts art camp every Spring, Summer, and Winter with both half day and full day art camp options.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Art Lab is open 7 days a week, with classes and gallery hours Monday through Thursday 10am–7pm and Friday through Sunday 10am–4pm; Winter, Spring, and Fall semesters run 10 consecutive weeks, Summer runs 8 consecutive weeks, and youth and teen classes are typically two hours in length.
Art Lab is a non-profit school of fine and applied art, established in 1975. Art Lab is a 501(c)(3) non-profit art school that offers four semesters of classes and workshops throughout the year. Its classes provide art instruction and appreciation for students of all ages, from beginners to advanced levels. Art Lab is a valued member of New York’s arts and educational community and is a vital part of the cultural life of Staten Island. Art Lab offers artists exhibition space in the Art Lab Gallery and hosts exhibitions of work by students, faculty, emerging artists, established artists, and community groups. Art Lab has a long history of students who have gone on to attend Pratt, F.I.T., and N.Y.U. among prestigious art colleges. Art for a Day events offer two or three hour group projects, including time for food and presents, and projects can be tailored to the needs or wants of the group or left up to Art Lab’s teaching artists. Workshops are one to three week classes that focus on specific techniques, mediums, or artistic styles. Free parking is available on site, with elevator accessibility and handicapped parking spaces available, and professional security guards are on 24-hour patrol. Visitors and students needing elevator accessibility or large groups are asked to call 718-447-8667 for assistance or an appointment.
