About

High Meadow Afterschool Enrichment & Summer Camp offers activities in music, art, dance, and sports. The program takes place on the High Meadow School campus, which includes spaces such as a performing arts and athletic center, a music building, a yurt, a gazebo, a village in the woods built by students, trails, and two organic gardens tended by students and teachers.

• Ages: 3–13 years old

High Meadow School was founded in 1984 and moved to its current Stone Ridge campus in 1992. The school’s mission states that it is a nursery through 8th-grade independent school that centers diversity, equity, civic engagement, nature, and the arts in its curriculum and culture, and that students graduate with a strong academic foundation and a developed sense of self. The leadership team includes Michelle Healy as Head of School and Mimi Labourdette as Founder. High Meadow School is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to progressive education, equity, and sustainability.

Afterschool programs are open to all children, including children from other schools and the homeschool community, and enrichment programs are open for everyone. The school’s auxiliary program expansion includes athletics, enrichment, and aftercare programs, and HMS hosts concerts, open houses, and family programs.

One family shared that they chose High Meadow because the curriculum is rooted in curiosity and their children come home excited to share what they have learned each day. They also described a strong sense of community in which their kids know all the parents and teachers, and as same-sex parents they feel cherished and supported, which they see reflected in their children’s eagerness to go to school.
