Girls Inc. at YWCA offers research-based, informal education programs for girls ages 5-18. The program includes mentorship, inter-personal skills, and activities focused on physical, intellectual, and emotional challenges. It also includes career and college exploration, leadership development, physical and mental wellness, character development, academic support, life skills, cooking, family nutrition, and STEM activities.
Programs
- Girls Inc. at YWCA — girls ages 5-18 · Research-based, informal education programs; focus on building inter-personal skills, mentorship, and empowering girls to conquer physical, intellectual, and emotional challenges.
- After-School Program — Monday-Friday, 2:30pm-5:00pm (or whenever students arrive off the bus) · Center-based program.
- HER Space — After-school teen program that focuses on leadership development, community action, and academic support.
- This Girl Can — girls ages 9-12 · STEM programming for girls ages 9-12.
- Girls Inc. at YWCA outreach programs — Opportunities are available for students in grades K-12. · During lunch-time or after-school · Academic support, life skills, cooking, and family nutrition for students enrolled in the SCSD at PSLA at Fowler High School and Blodgett Middle School.
- Winter Break STEM Camp — girls ages 8-13 · A week of fun and creative STEM activities.
- Camp Discovery — girls ages 5-12 · 7-week summer camp.
- Teen Summer — girls ages 13+ · 7-week program where girls experience a summer of exploration, building character, and sisterhood.
- Expanding Your Horizons — girls ages 5-10 · Workshops that explore fun, interesting careers.
- Girls’ Summit — Hands-on S.T.E.A.M career exploration day featuring workshops, a keynote address, and a women in business panel.
- Crafts & Cookies — Crafts, cookies and connection with the YWCA staff.

Girls Inc. of CNY merged with the YWCA Syracuse & Onondaga County, Inc. in 2007. The YWCA of Syracuse & Onondaga County, Inc. was founded in 1885, and its local association was founded in 1892. The program serves youth ages 5-18 and includes outreach at PSLA at Fowler High School and Blodgett Middle School.
