About
Arts Camp @ RoCA takes place within RoCA’s School for the Arts, which offers over 250 classes in a wide variety of art disciplines. Classes are taught by professionally trained and exhibiting artists in fully-equipped fine arts, ceramics, and dance studios. The facility includes state of the art studio lighting and a heating and air conditioning system that creates a comfortable and professional studio environment.
The camp is led by Camp Director Antonia Edelstein, with leadership involvement from Daly Flanagan. According to Edelstein, Arts Camp @ RoCA cultivates an inclusive culture and community to give campers a supportive space for productive artistic and personal self-expression and creativity in many forms. Flanagan describes RoCA’s creative community as including teachers, exhibiting contemporary artists, and students who form a dynamic, inclusive, and expanding network of people who inspire each other through the arts.
Rockland Center for the Arts states that its mission is to inspire, educate, and enrich the community through creating, teaching, and presenting the arts, and to provide opportunities for all people to experience and participate in the cultural life of the region. RoCA states that it is committed to the process of experiencing, responding to, creating, and presenting art, and that it engages individuals and the community through a range of relevant, thought-provoking programs while cultivating new audiences in personally meaningful ways.
RoCA acknowledges support for its programs from a range of funders, including foundations, individual donors, business members, ArtsWestchester, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature, and the County of Rockland.
