About

Camp Deerpark is a Christian camping and retreat program that serves children, youth, and families from many different cultures. It provides a place of rest, learning, and spiritual growth for children, church groups, and families, with hospitality as a central part of its summer camp and retreat ministry. As a cross-cultural ministry, it includes both ethnic culture and rural/urban culture in its work.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Price: The camp offers people of all ages, races, and backgrounds the opportunity to enjoy Christian camping at a reasonable price.

Camp Deerpark is a ministry of the New York City Mennonite Churches and an outreach of 18 New York City Mennonite Churches, dedicated to serving inner-city Mennonites. It is owned by the New York City Mennonite Churches and is dedicated to serving those churches. As a ministry of the Mennonite Churches of New York City, Camp Deerpark affirms the 1995 Confession of Faith in a Mennonite Perspective as a statement of faith. The program includes opportunities for hands-on leadership and ministry experience for inner-city youth. It also offers affordable and welcoming retreat facilities in what it describes as the serenity of God’s creation.

One youth group leader, Vanessa Sumnick, describes Camp Deerpark as “a beautiful and peaceful part of God’s creation” and recommends it for personal retreats, family reunions or vacation, and church and youth group retreats for reasons including personal healing, rest, adventure, or celebration. Former camper Nathaniel Martin describes it as “the greatest place of all” and says that, whether someone is deep in faith or unsure about God, the staff and surroundings make “a safe place to learn and explore without judgment.” Retreat guest Antoniett Mastros reports having “an amazing time” during a weekend retreat, describes the meals as delicious, and calls the staff “amazing and so kind,” adding that there is “more than enough to take in visually and audibly” and that it is “a breath of fresh air.”
