Since the founding of Lawrence Country Day School in 1891 and Woodmere Academy in 1912, the 1990 merger of these two schools resulted in Lawrence Woodmere Academy as an independent secondary education source on the south shore of Long Island. The divisions are bound by the school’s mission, which is distilled into three core values: truth, integrity, and service. The school motto is “At home with the world.” The school culture is marked by a commitment to a global perspective within a racially, ethnically, and socio-economically diverse community. Lawrence Woodmere Academy reports that 100% of its students graduate and continue to higher education, with graduates attending many top universities in the United States, and that it has a 100% graduation rate and matriculation to college. The school describes itself as “More than a school, LWA is a Family.” The faculty are described as accomplished educators. Lawrence Woodmere Academy is a recognized NYS 501(c)3 non-profit.
