Planet Parker Summer Program
Robert C. Parker School, 4254 Route 43, Wynantskill, NY 12198
About
Planet Parker Summer Program includes open-air play, nature-based activities, and imaginative play. Children take part in hands-on learning and experiential investigation and discovery, including exploration time at the creek, fields, and forest trails.
• Ages: 3–13 years old
• Schedule: Nine-week summer program with daily sessions from 9:00AM to 3:15PM and extended care available from 8:00AM to 5:15PM
Founded in 2008, Planet Parker was created to cultivate a lifelong love of learning—indoors and out. The program is a natural extension of an integrated, interdisciplinary, project-based curriculum that is described as sparking curiosity, creativity, and connection with the world around participants. Preschool-to-rising-Kindergarten programs, called Planeteers and Little Planeteers, are created especially for early explorers. The program utilizes a 77-acre campus that includes forest trails, a tree-house classroom, a butterfly garden, a pond, and meadows, along with direct access to the outdoors via the Parker Discovery Center science lab, and students are outdoors in all seasons with the campus often serving as the inspiration for learning such as gardening and composting, wildlife study, and engineering projects.
Summer programs are led by dedicated school-year Parker teachers and long-time Planet Parker staff who know the community well and are described as passionate about creating safe, engaging, and joyful summer experiences. Any child who is not currently a student at Robert C. Parker School must submit immunization records and the most recent physical (within one year of the session start date) from their healthcare provider upon enrollment in summer programs.
One testimonial describes Parker as “truly a special place,” noting the expansive outdoor spaces for kids to play, the pond, stream, and acres of forests as “magical,” and stating that “what is truly outstanding is the learning going on inside the school.”
