BAYarts Classes and Creative Programming

BAYarts Classes and Creative Programming offers Art Scouts – Nov/Dec for ages 7-11, where students use painting, sculpture, fiber arts, and clay projects, and earn an Art Scout badge. It also offers Art Club: Crochet for Teens, where students learn basic stitches, how to read a pattern, and work toward Amigurumi stuffed toys, plus several ceramics classes that teach hand building, wheel throwing, wedging, and glazing.

Programs

• Advanced Ceramics — Adults · TUE 10 am-12 pm · $390 per session · Advanced students are guided in making clay creations. Techniques on the wheel, hand-building, and decoration methods are taught. Classroom is wheelchair accessible.
• Alcohol Ink Holiday Gifts (December) — Adults · SAT 10:30 am-12:30 pm · $60 · Beginner friendly class on alcohol inks, blending, air manipulation, and color mixing to create holiday ornaments and a glass trinket tray.
• Alcohol Ink Holiday Gifts (November) — Adults · SAT 10:30 am-12:30 pm · $60 · Beginner friendly class on alcohol inks, blending, air manipulation, and color mixing to create holiday ornaments and a glass trinket tray.
• Art Club: Advanced Cartooning — 12-14 · THUR 6:30-8:30 pm · $400 per session · Designed for students with a strong foundation in drawing and cartooning. Focuses on storytelling, illustration techniques, critiques, and supporting one another's growth.
• Art Club: Crochet for Teens — 10+ · SAT 10:30 am-12:30 pm · $160 per session · Learn basic stitches, how to read a pattern, and work toward Amigurumi stuffed toys.
• Art Club: Teen Ceramic Experience — MON 4-6 pm · $400 per session · After-school ceramic class for teens to work and play in clay while learning hand building, wedging, wheel throwing, and glazing techniques.
• Art Scouts – Nov/Dec — 7-11 · TUE 4:00-5:30 pm · $190 per session · Use different materials and techniques to create artworks in painting, sculpture, fiber arts, and clay projects; earns an Art Scout badge. No class 11/24.
• Beginner to Advanced Ceramics — Adults · TUE 6:30-8:30 pm · $390 per session · For all skill levels. Students work on hand-built and wheel-thrown ceramics. Classroom is wheelchair accessible.
• Beginning Ceramics — Adults · MON 6:30-8:30 pm · $390 per session · For students with little to no experience. Learn basics of wheel thrown and hand-built ceramics, from wedging to glazing. Classroom is wheelchair accessible.
• Beginning Ceramics – Beginner (Monday) — Adults · MON 10 am-12 pm · $390 per session · Basic techniques for wheel throwing and hand-building. Decorating and glazing techniques are taught. Classroom is wheelchair accessible. Returning students are welcome.
• Beginning Ceramics – Beginner (Tuesday) — Adults · TUE 12:30-2:30 pm · $390 per session · Basic techniques for wheel throwing and hand-building. Decorating and glazing techniques are taught. Classroom is wheelchair accessible. Returning students are welcome.
• Beginning Introduction to Watercolor — Adults · $216 per session · Guided lessons with step-by-step instructions to start watercolor painting. Learn basics including color mixing, pigments, paper choices, brush strokes, and washes.

About the provider

The program’s leadership team includes Karen Petkovic, Artistic Director, and Linda Goik, Director of Creative Programming. BAYarts states that it is the premier west side destination for visual arts and cultural events, and that classes are offered year round for both adults and children.

Payment is due at the time of registration. Refunds are given if class is dropped at least three days before the start of class; otherwise a credit is issued. Fees are not refunded or pro-rated for missed classes. Any classes canceled by BAYarts will be credited to the account. No makeup sessions or materials are provided for missed classes. Scholarships are offered for youth and adult art classes.
