Gymnastics World offers recreational gymnastics, competitive team gymnastics, preschool classes, school-aged recreational gymnastics, and tumbling classes. The program includes both boys competitive teams and girls competitive teams.
• Ages: 3–17 years old
• Schedule: Office hours Monday–Thursday with morning through evening availability, and Friday mornings
Gymnastics World opened in September of 1975. The current facility was built in 1985, with an addition in 1998 bringing the total space to 23,800 square feet, and a second 25,000 square foot facility in Twinsburg opened in 2014. Over 1,000 girls and boys participate in one or more of Gymnastics World’s programs.
Gymnastics World operates under the mission statement: “PROVIDING KIDS A SAFE PLACE TO REALIZE THEIR POTENTIAL.” The program was opened by Ron and Joan Ganim along with Joan’s parents, Jim and Martha Puzder. Joan continues to operate the business with the help of her three children: Maria Schneider, Greg, and AJ. Maria is a full-time teacher at BBHMS and head coach of the Brecksville/Broadview Heights High School Bees gymnastics team. Greg manages both Gymnastics World locations, and AJ owns and manages World Elite, an off-shoot of Gymnastics World located in Brecksville. Ron and Joan were head coaches of the Brecksville/Broadview Heights Bees, who have been overall Ohio High School Gymnastics State Champions 19 times.
Between 2004 and 2011, Gymnastics World athletes raised nearly $200,000 for Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. The Ganims and Gymnastics World have supported Rush for a Cause, Harvest for Hunger, Adopt-a-Family for the holidays, NEOPAT, Kick It!, the Brian Muha Memorial Foundation, and local scholarships.
In 2020, the Ganims were named Business Leaders of the Year by USA Gymnastics, and AJ was a member of the Covid Task Force in Ohio representing the gymnastics and cheer industries. Ron and Joan were inducted into the USA Gymnastics Region 5 Hall of Fame in 2018, and Ron was inducted into the Northern Ohio Lebanese American Association Hall of Fame in 2015.
An alumna, Michaela Romito Mancuso, shared that she is an alum of Gymnastics World who continued her gymnastics career at Kent State University and that she has been coached by most of the coaches there since she was 4 years old. She stated that she recommends Gymnastics World as a place for children of all ages.
