School of Art offers ceramics, photography, classic oil painting, and printmaking classes. The program also includes “first” art classes for kids in pre-K and up, as well as summer art camps.

The School of Art is part of the Canton Museum of Art, which was founded in 1935. Education is central to CMA’s mission, fueling creativity and transformative experiences with art for all. CMA presents between 12 and 14 exhibitions per year, and more than 3,000 students of all ages attend over 30 art classes each session. Need-based scholarships are available for summer art camps.
CMA’s community programming includes collaborative events with the Canton Symphony, Canton Ballet, Players Guild, Canton Palace Theatre, and other regional groups. CMA’s Free Family Days, Canton Arts District First Fridays, and other community events include hands-on activities and performances, and community outreach events reach more than 10,000 participants each year, including free Community Art Talks at businesses, libraries, and other institutions.
The Canton Museum of Art is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and was first accredited in 1974. It is also an active member of the Ohio Museums Association and Ohio Citizens for the Arts. CMA is Sensory Certified through KultureCity and has backpacks to aid those with sensory needs, as well as designated quiet, crowd-free areas. A limited number of wheelchairs are available to guests at no charge on a first come, first served basis.
