About
Heights United Soccer Academy offers professional soccer training that includes developmentally appropriate speed, agility and core balance training, small group activities, and footskills techniques. The program includes options such as soccer camp, day camp, Indoor Academy 30-minute foot skills sessions, Indoor Academy 30-minute small-sided soccer games, and Tiger Cub Soccer small-side games. Campers also take part in activities such as swimming at Cumberland Park, ice skating in the Community Center, access to Forest Hills and Cumberland parks and playgrounds, access to the Field House and activity rooms inside the air-conditioned Community Center, Summer Camp arts and crafts, drama, indoor gym games, and yard clean-up services to senior citizens in the neighborhood.

• Schedule: Fall 2026 program meets on Saturdays from September 12 to October 10, and Summer Camp 2026 runs weekdays June 1 through July 24 from 9 a.m.–3 p.m., with optional before care 8–9 a.m. and after care 3–5 p.m. for an additional fee; Indoor Academy sessions include 30-minute foot skills and 30-minute small-sided games.
• Price: $65 plus online registration fees for the Fall 2026 program; Summer Camp 2026 costs $1399 for all 8 weeks, or $195 per week ($156 for weeks with four weekdays), with specific weekly prices listed for Weeks 1–8.
Heights United Soccer Academy is in its 31st year of professional soccer training in the Heights and has been developing young players since 1994. HUSA’s six-week Summer Camp is described as offering an energy level that kids love, including music for soccer drills from disco to Brazilian and hip hop, and the Summer Camp has sold out for the last five summers, with a limit of 70 campers per week. The program’s curriculum builds on skills as players progress through age groups, focuses on individualized foot skills and tactics, speed and agility drills and daily tournament games, and follows CDC guidelines pertaining to concussions. Heights United takes only 30 kids per age group per session so that every player receives individual instruction, and Tiger Cub Soccer introduces foot-skills techniques through games and music, with up to five players per side and parents encouraged to participate in all Tiger Cub Soccer events.
Participants receive professional soccer training from Cleveland Heights High Hall of Fame Teacher and Coach Sean Sullivan, who directs both Heights United Soccer Academy and Heights United Day Camp. Sean Sullivan is a Cleveland Heights High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame Teacher and Coach, a 2018 inductee into the Cleveland Heights High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame, and was the men’s varsity soccer head coach at Heights High from 2000–2014. He won the Ron Pinsenschaum Award in 2012, described as the highest coaching honor in Ohio, is director of coaching for the City of Cleveland Heights, and is former director of coaching for the Eastside Kickers travel club soccer. Coach Sullivan still teaches in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights school district, and his Summer Staff have all been involved with the Summer Camp for at least five years and have undergone counselor training under his supervision; staff are all Heights High graduates.
Heights United states that it is a safe space that encourages self expression, describes itself as a microcosm of its diverse community, and states that it strives for an altruistic approach to its service which provides high-level, detail-oriented training and an evident and unyielding commitment to enriching youth. Heights United has been recognized locally, statewide and nationally, has been named a “Community Champion” by Citizens Bank, and Scene Magazine named Sean Sullivan “Best Soccer Sensei” in 2009. Heights United is proud to announce a continued partnership with the City of Cleveland Heights, and in August 2025 the City of Cleveland Heights named the field at Denison Park after Coach Sullivan to recognize his decades of service to the city and the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District. Sean Sullivan has a stated passion for community service and expects his campers to give back through yard clean-up services to senior citizens in the neighborhood, and his campers have been featured on WKYC-TV.
