Camp Lilac

Camp Lilac is an overnight summer camp that focuses on transgender and gender diverse youth. The program centers its work in values including Learning, Individuality, Liberation, Agency, and Community, and focuses on creating a space where trans people can thrive and belong, existing outside of judgment and the expectations of cisheteronormativity. The program is designed so that campers emerge with an increased sense of confidence in their identities and a strong community of peers and supporters.

Since 2017, Camp Lilac has been creating a safe, welcoming, and confidential space in which gender diversity is the norm. Its stated mission is to provide a safe, welcoming space for transgender and gender diverse youth to be themselves in a positive, supportive, youth-focused environment. Camp Lilac is a project of GenderSphere, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

A 2025 camper shared that knowing they would get to see their community again at Camp Lilac was what kept them going through a very difficult year. A 2023 camper described attending the camp as life-changing and talked about meeting many people who changed their life for the better. A 2023 camper parent expressed gratitude for Camp Lilac and said their daughter looks forward all year to having time to be 100% herself, without fear or judgment.
