Columbus Children’s Choir is a choral program where children and teens take part in organized singing. The program focuses on choral singing activities led by experienced music educators and conductors.

Columbus Children’s Choir was established in 1996 and is described as Central Ohio’s premier choral program for school-age children. It is open to students in grades 1–12 of all experience levels. According to its mission statement, the program builds skills, confidence, and community, and offers generous financial aid to help keep participation accessible.
The leadership team includes Artistic Director Jeanne Wohlgamuth; Program Manager Dr. Tammy Gebara; Vivace Director Molly McCorkle Rule; Adagio Director and Accompanist Eliza van Kan; Accompanist Chad Baker; Young Musicians staff member Robin Terschak; and Managing Director Dr. Kerry Haberkern. Jeanne Wohlgamuth has a four-decade career in children’s music education and has received multiple national and international conducting and teaching awards, including the Professor Veneta Vicheva Conductor’s Mastery Award (2021), Best Conductor Award from the Rimini International Choral Competition (2021), the Outstanding Music Educator Award from the Royale Music Competition (2023), and the National Teacher of the Year Award from the Organization of American Kodály Educators (2020). She led a choral residency at Carnegie Hall in June 2023 and is scheduled to return in 2026 to conduct Mulholland’s Missa Romantica for treble choir with the New England Symphonic Orchestra. Other honors for her include multiple Teacher of the Year awards in several schools, the Golden Shamrock Award for Educational Excellence from Dublin City Schools (2001), the Community Champion Award from the Dublin Chamber of Commerce (2008), and induction into the Dublin Jerome High School Hall of Fame in 2021.
Program Manager Dr. Tammy Gebara has over 25 years of teaching experience and holds degrees from Baylor University, the University of Texas at Arlington, and The Ohio State University. Vivace Director Molly McCorkle Rule holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music education and vocal performance, has taught in elementary schools and early childhood programs, has lectured at The Ohio State University School of Music, and was selected as a soprano for the Music In Worship Festival Chorus at the American Choral Directors’ Association National Conference in 2013. Adagio Director and Accompanist Eliza van Kan holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music education, has worked as an accompanist and coach for school choirs and instrumental students, and has taught elementary and middle school music at international schools in Tokyo. Accompanist Chad Baker is Director of Worship & Music at Christ Lutheran Church in Bexley, is on the faculty of the Capital University Conservatory of Music, teaches in the Sacred Music program at Trinity Lutheran Seminary, and is a 2004 cum laude graduate of Capital University in keyboard pedagogy with an emphasis in church music. Young Musicians staff member Robin Terschak holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education (Vocal) from Capital University and serves as the K–4 General Music Teacher at Pickerington Elementary School. Managing Director Dr. Kerry Haberkern is the faculty instructor of bassoon at Otterbein University, second bassoonist for the Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra, and has held positions with the Niagara Symphony Orchestra and the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra.
Columbus Children’s Choir has received multiple national and international honors, including Grand Prize Winner in the International Youth Music Competition (2025, 2024, 2023), First Place Winner in The American Prize, Choral Performance, Youth Choir Division (2025 and 2010) and Children’s Community Choir (2019 and 2021), Gold Medal Winner at the 2025 Musica Orbis Prague Festival, First Place Winner at the 2025 Bratislava Music Festival, Youth Division, and Grand Prize and First Place awards at the 2021 Rimini International Choral Festival in Italy. The organization lists supporters and hosts events such as a Family Fun Day Fundraiser at Fancyburg Park Shelter in Upper Arlington. Families are asked to enter through the east-most entrance and accompany children during drop-off and pick-up, and off-street parking is available in the back of the property.
