Camp A Cappella focuses on contemporary a cappella music and includes specific activities such as Arranging, Rhythm Section, Audio Recording, and Solo Delivery. Campers take part in hands-on learning in these areas with instructors who specialize in a cappella.
• Ages: 13–18 years old
Camp A Cappella is led by a staff that includes award-winning music educators, professional singers and vocal percussionists, and a cappella directors with a combined 100+ years of a cappella experience. The leadership team includes Brody McDonald, director of choirs at Kettering Fairmont High School in Dayton, Ohio, and Deke Sharon, who is described by Entertainment Weekly as “The Father of Contemporary A Cappella.” The camp is described as the first and largest a cappella camp in the world, with 300+ campers attending every year and more than 20 a cappella groups formed from friendships and bonds at the camp. Campers attend from the Midwest, the East Coast, Canada, and France.
