About
Kids Camps takes place at the Schedel Arboretum and Gardens, a 17 acre garden estate. The program is part of a setting that has been open to the public since 1991 and has drawn thousands of visitors each year to experience its gardens and collections.
Since 1991 the Schedel Arboretum and Gardens has been described as an extraordinary experience for young and old alike. Joe and Marie Schedel spent more than 50 years living, planning, and building this resource for the study and appreciation of nature. During their travels to more than 120 countries, they acquired collections of art, antiques, jewelry, antique carved jade, archaic bronze, and plants. Upon Marie Schedel’s passing in 1989, the Schedel Foundation assumed care and operation of the estate and opened it to the public in 1991 in accordance with plans made in 1963. The stated mission of the Schedel Arboretum & Gardens is to offer life enhancing experiences for current and future generations by offering opportunities for the study and appreciation of nature and the arts. The foundation board has also adopted a mission statement describing its role as offering life enhancing experiences for current and future generations by providing unique arts.
