Campers are grouped by ability, age, and experience at the Director’s discretion, and the camp maintains a 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio. Campers receive a Nike Basketball Camp t-shirt and other prizes at this multi-day camp. Lunch is not provided, and campers are asked to bring a packed or sack lunch each day. Basketballs are provided for instruction, and it is not recommended that campers bring their own basketballs. Nike All Court Elite Basketballs can be purchased during registration for $35, with a choice between size 6 (28.5", standard girls) or size 7 (29.5", standard boys), and these are passed out on the last day of camp. Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury, and in case of an emergency, campers are transported to the nearest hospital.
Camp Director Noah Battle has been involved with Nike Camps since 2017 and is a 2020 graduate of the University of Akron. He has spent several years coaching at Gahanna Middle School and was recently promoted to Head Junior Varsity Coach at Gahanna Lincoln High School. The leadership team for this camp includes Camp Director Noah Battle, Columbus Director Kyle Pottkotter, and One Five Sports Staff. One Five Sports offers competitive, intense, and fun youth basketball training throughout Ohio and is comprised of elite coaches who are described as passionate about helping kids become the best players both on and off the court, understand the game in-depth, and learn how to mentally and physically prepare for all game situations.
Parent and camper reviews from past seasons mention campers coming home happy and talking about what they learned, coaches working on fundamentals, and campers enjoying drills, competitions, and 3-on-3 games. Multiple reviews note campers returning for more than one year and describe experiences such as learning ball-handling skills, sharpening skills, and having a mix of fun, discipline, and skills training. Several reviews specifically mention Coach Battle, the awards ceremony, and campers making friends and learning about teamwork.
