Creative Playrooms Montessori and Child Care Centers has been a part of the greater Cleveland community for over 50 years. The centers provide Montessori and traditional programming and offer parents a choice of traditional preschool or a true Montessori preschool program. The mission of Creative Playrooms states that throughout all classrooms, a play-based/Montessori/Reggio Emilia approach to learning focuses on the whole child and their physical, emotional, and cognitive needs. The teachers are credentialed in the Montessori philosophy, and teachers and assistants are chosen for their experience and training in early childhood education and child development; as a fully licensed childcare center, teachers are trained in First-Aid and CPR and have undergone state background checks.

Creative Playrooms locations provide options such as Montessori programs, swimming lessons, cafeteria-like lunch rooms (with the exception of the Independence location), expansive outdoor play spaces, and most locations provide hot meals and snacks. Most locations offer on-site swimming pools with lifeguards. The program notes a partnership developed with the family, a diverse set of materials, activities, and experiences to foster creativity and social independence, large blocks of time to problem-solve and create new ideas, and an atmosphere that encourages social interaction for cooperative learning and emotional development. The centers are described as an award-winning child care provider, and their programs participate in Step Up To Quality, Ohio’s rating and improvement system, with an invitation to “come see our accredited programs in action.” Creative Playrooms is part of the Early Learning Academies (ELA) family, a network of early childhood learning centers led by childcare professionals.

Security and communication features include secure sign-in/out technology that provides staff with real-time attendance information, the Smartcare childcare system that allows immediate notification of parents of urgent situations, entrances monitored by staff or cameras and requiring passcodes or QR codes for entry, and staff participation in regular emergency preparedness training and drills. One parent, Angela S., describes the teachers as wonderful and long-tenured, notes that rooms are spacious and clean, highlights the Montessori program and baby room, and characterizes Creative Playrooms as “just all around a fantastic place to take your children,” stating that the center takes pride in understanding the importance of parent confidence in the place they entrust their children.
