It has been active for over 100 years, beginning with a sewing class in 1898, formal founding in 1911 under the name The Girls’ Monday Club, a home donation in 1916, and dedication of the present complex on June 13, 1927.
The leadership team includes Darcy DeLancey as Childcare Director, Suzanne Schultz as Executive Director, Valerie Dietrich as Director of Operations, Stephanie Greene as Aquatics Director, and Jeremy Sargent as Maintenance Director. Stephanie Greene brings 25 years of aquatics experience and has degrees in Sports and Exercise and Sports Management. The Betsey Mills Club is locally administered and locally financed, and membership helps provide funding for swimming lessons for children and educational field trips for preschoolers. Community support through donations and volunteering helps the organization continue to offer housing at low rates and maintain programs and services that reach many residents of Washington County.
