The Union County Family YMCA first started in 1975 in the old Selective Services building on West 6th Street in Marysville, Ohio, and in 1982 volunteers and community members began fundraising for a permanent location on Charles Lane, which opened as a newly-renovated facility in October 2002. The mission of the Union County Family YMCA is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. The Lewis Family donated the land where the YMCA stands, and the organization describes serving Union County as its passion, with areas of impact listed as Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility, and as a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community by connecting people to their potential, purpose and each other while working locally to empower young people, improve health and well-being, and inspire action in and across communities. The leadership team includes Tony Collins as President and CEO, Michelle Pever as Acting Executive Director, Sharon Ramsey as Finance Manager, Amber Calvert as Gymnastics Coordinator, Lori Rogers as Wellness Director, James Kulko as Sports Director, Amy Bushong as Membership Director, and James Colton as Aquatics Director, with a Board of Trustees led by President Danielle Prohaska, Vice President Jonathan Gummel, and Treasurer Chuck Sattler, along with members Marjolein Berbee-Dzmura, Nathan Gnau, Chris Green, Zack Howard, Sandy Liedtke, Gail Moore, Dina Saulters, and Lavona See. The YMCA also offers a one-time consecutive 7-day pass called “Try the Y” for individuals 18 or over.
