The Union County Family YMCA states its mission as putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. The organization began in 1975 in the old Selective Services building on West 6th Street in Marysville, Ohio, with volunteers and community members starting fundraising in 1982 for a permanent location on Charles Lane, and it opened its newly renovated location in October 2002. The gymnastics program is coordinated by Amber Calvert, who is listed as the Gymnastics Coordinator, and is part of a broader leadership team that includes a President and CEO, an Acting Executive Director, and directors for finance, wellness, sports, and membership, along with a Board of Trustees. The Union County Family YMCA describes itself as a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community by connecting people to their potential, purpose, and each other, and notes that it works locally to empower young people, improve health and well-being, and inspire action in and across communities. Families using Union County Family YMCA Gymnastics are at a facility that also offers a one-time consecutive 7-day “Try the Y” pass for adults 18 and over, access to the YMCA360 online app and platform with membership, the PWR!MOVES exercise class for Parkinson’s, and a Crunch & Learn Series featuring local professionals speaking on wellness topics such as chiropractic care, holistic health offerings, and diabetes.
