Rising Appalachia RAW Camp is a program of Rising Appalachia that centers its activities on engaging experiences rooted to the Land. The camp operates within an organization that focuses on farm, forest, and wildlife preservation and emphasizes stewardship and sustainability for generations to come. RAW Camp follows a mission to foster a deep connection between children and the natural world and to nurture their curiosity and reverence for the world.

Rising Appalachia RAW Camp is part of Rising Appalachia, whose mission is to foster a regional culture rooted in sustainable stewardship of natural assets through education, demonstration, community exchange, and farm, forest, and wildlife preservation. RAW Camp’s mission states that it aims to inspire a lifelong appreciation for all existence and to instill values of stewardship and sustainability for generations to come.

The leadership team for Rising Appalachia includes Executive Director and co-founder Weston Lombard, land steward and co-founder Molly Jo Stanley, director of Adena Mounds Festival and lead naturalist and co-founder Lawrence Greene, Program Director Rina Caldwell, and Administrative Assistant Heather Hively. The board of directors includes Sarah Davis (Board Chair), Greg Jacomet (Vice Chair), Cameron Shasteen (Treasurer), Carolyn Vieland (Secretary), Geoff Carlston, Stephanie Campsey, and Kate Moscou. The Program Director designs and oversees nine weeks of summer camp, newsletters, and community programming.

Staff credentials include Rina, who graduated Cum Laude from both Ohio University in Outdoor Education and Hocking College in Natural Resources Management, holds an Educator's Permit from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to care for displaced or permanently injured wildlife, and has completed the first phase to become a Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator. Staff member Molly Jo Stanley has 18 years of academic and professional experience in education, ecology, ethnobotany, and land stewardship. Staff member Heather Hively graduated Cum Laude from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.

Rising Appalachia states that it does its best to source supplies and equipment locally so that its economic impact benefits the community of Athens and surrounding counties. Lawrence works with communities in West Virginia, northern Kentucky, and Ohio.
