About
Camp Invention is a weeklong summer day camp that features hands-on STEM adventures such as high-energy morning games that encourage creativity and teamwork. Campers miniaturize top-secret innovations, safeguard their designs using cryptography, time travel to ensure their ideas are patented and protected, investigate a series of mischievous pranks, create sleuthing gadgets, collect bits of fluffy fur and reveal a trail of animal tracks, examine suspicious splatters, and forensically analyze the evidence. They also conduct hands-on buoyancy experiments, paddle through salty challenges, sketch, design and build prototypes, create an innovative billboard boat, build a DIY rocket, launch a mission to transform a faraway planet’s atmosphere, terrain and ecosystem, race a Rover to collect important data and samples, design and build inventions for navigating intense planetary conditions, hatch a mysterious animal egg, and encounter a dazzling crystal surprise.
• Ages: 5–11 years old
• Schedule: A weeklong STEM experience
• Price: Pricing starts at $285 or approximately $9 per hour. Payment plans are available at checkout up to eight weeks before camp start date.
Camp Invention is led by qualified local educators. The program is founded and supported in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and has been honoring the spirit of innovation and promoting inventors as role models since 1973. To fulfill its mission of making STEM education accessible and promoting innovation across the country, the education team collaborates with National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees to create new program curricula each year. Over 1,500 Camp Invention programs run nationwide, in partnership with over 1,400 districts nationwide and in Puerto Rico over the past year.
The 2026 Camp Invention program is called Spark, and campers team up with real-world inventors with a focus on creativity, problem solving, innovation, and entrepreneurship, including take-home products developed through customized, one-of-a-kind product development. Some locations offer Before and After Care.
Parent and caregiver feedback includes comments such as children coming home eager to share what they are learning, wanting to try new things, and being excited to bring inventions home and show siblings. Several parents and grandparents describe their children or grandchildren as loving the camp, being excited to return, and enjoying hands-on creative play, with some noting that their children made friends and were engaged throughout the day. One parent who is also an educator describes Camp Invention as a highlight of summer, and multiple parents report that their children asked to sign up again after attending.
