About
Drake Planetarium Summer Camps offer Summer STEM Camps with activities such as LEGO Zoo Adventures, Young Engineers, Space Camp, Little Astronauts, Rockets, Rover Engineers, Advanced Young Builders, Battle Bots I and II, MoonBots, ZooBots, Space Bots, and Robotics. Campers take part in hands-on science programs like TinkerTech, Paper Science, Toy Tinkering, Crazy Contraptions, Advanced Engineering, Invention Adventure, and SPHERO Programming, including Mini Sphero and Lego SPIKE PRIME. The program also includes art activities such as painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, and planetarium shows using an optical star projector and immersive full dome technology.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: One-week camps running Monday–Friday, with half-day options from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM or 1:00 PM–4:00 PM, and a full-day option from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM with lunch from 12:00 PM–1:00 PM for full-day campers
• Price: 2026 Early Pricing: Half Day (AM or PM): $225/week; Full Day (AM + Lunch + PM): $375/week; Planetarium Members receive a 10% discount on Half-Day Camps; a completed registration form with full payment or a non-refundable 50% deposit is required to reserve a spot; deposits are non-refundable; remaining balances are due 30 days before the camp week begins, and a $25 late processing fee is added for overdue balance payments
Drake Planetarium Summer Camps are nonprofit-powered camps that offer two completely different camps each day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, and families may choose a half-day option or a full-day experience that includes two unique STEM camps per day for full-day campers and seven full hours of hands-on STEM learning. Drake Planetarium & Science Center has over 30 years of offering hands-on science programs and planetarium shows and offers many different STEM programs that are described as exciting, engaging, and inspiring to students of all ages. The portable planetarium can come directly to schools or facilities, and customizable planetarium programs are available for an immersive educational experience.
