Rainbow Acres Educational Daycare was founded in 1998 by Francine Harder. The stated mission is to help and care for children while teaching young children basic preschool academics and proper social behavior, with the philosophy that education should begin at the earliest possible age. The mission also states that Rainbow Acres pledges to provide this education at a high level of quality and dedication, and to assist parents in developing high moral and educational values in their child, while not replacing the role of a parent.
The program operates all year except on major holidays, including New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day and the day after, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. Rainbow Acres Educational Daycare has three locations: Oak Harbor, Port Clinton, and Gibsonburg. It offers a gradeschool summer program and uses the Brightwheel app to send photos, videos, newsletters, and parent alerts about center updates, to accept payments, and to allow communication with a child’s teacher through the app.
All staff members are trained in First Aid and CPR. Teacher aides must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and a preschool teacher must have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. The program conducts monthly fire drills and keeps the results on file in the main office, and it maintains three first-aid kits on site in the main office, field trip kit, and kitchen.
Rainbow Acres Educational Daycare is STAR 3 Step Up qualified and has been voted as a top daycare in the area. The program partners with Job & Family Services and GICAP for child care assistance.
