About
Origins School of Learning is a non-profit full day preschool that offers quality childcare for children in the community. The program uses the HighScope preschool curriculum, where teachers create an environment that encourages children to explore learning materials and interact with adults and peers. The educational approach focuses on the development of the whole child across social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language domains, along with essential life skills and self-esteem.
The mission of Origins School of Learning is to provide a high-quality preschool program that is both affordable and flexible, designed to meet the needs of children and families in the community. The program aims to ensure that children in Jerome and the surrounding areas have access to safe childcare in an educational setting with developmentally appropriate activities for learning and growth. Origins School of Learning is connected with the Dublin Latchkey organization and serves children and families in Jerome, Dublin, and nearby areas.
The leadership team includes Renee Vaughn, a Site Director at Dublin Latchkey in Jerome who is involved with Origins School of Learning; Carol Wheeler, a Site Director with Dublin Latchkey who works with Origins Preschool; and preschool teacher Jeanne Majka, who supports teachers and families in the Jerome area through the Dublin Latchkey program. Staff member Colleen Silva joined Dublin Latchkey in 2022 and Origins in 2023, and teacher Vandana brings degrees in Science, Education, and Mathematics. Renee has 30 years of experience in early childhood education, a Bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Studies from Ohio State University, and PreK through grade 3 teacher certification in Ohio. Carol has 18 years of experience in early childhood education and has worked as a Program Specialist, Health and Safety Coordinator, Trainer, and Assistant Director, and she holds a Child Development Associate Credential. Jeanne has 32 years of classroom experience teaching preschool and an Associate’s Degree with a strong foundation in Early Childhood Development. Colleen attended Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and was a preschool teacher assistant for four years. Vandana earned bachelor’s degrees in Science and Education and a Master’s degree in Mathematics, and taught high school math for five years in India.
