Camp Wakonda is an outdoor retreat ministry that offers experiences of God’s Great Spirit in the setting of God’s amazing creation. The camp community plays games, tells stories, and grows as a community of faith one week at a time.
Camp Wakonda’s mission is to encourage children, youth, and adults to develop their faith by joining in God’s unconditional love and acceptance through Christian community in God’s amazing creation. The camp’s name comes from the Lakota-Sioux people on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, where “Wakonda” means “Great Spirit.” Camp Wakonda has a long history in mission with the Lakota-Sioux people on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
