Sunbury Urban Farm is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational farm. Its mission is to cultivate connections through agricultural, culinary, and environmental learning experiences that are rooted in exploration, sustainability, and belonging. The programs are ACA accredited, which means the organization has participated in a thorough review of operations, including staff qualifications and training and emergency management. SUF's program director is Sarah, who was included by Columbus Monthly as one of their experts in an article about picking which summer camp is best for a child.
The organization and its staff have received several recognitions, including ACA accreditation, a Youth Leadership Award for SUF summer staff member Serenity, and the Boyd W. Bowden Garden Impact Award for Education and Leadership at the 2022 Growing to Green Awards at the Franklin Park Conservatory. Sunbury Urban Farm also received the Education Garden of the Year Award at the 2021 and 2020 Growing to Green Awards at the Franklin Park Conservatory and was recognized as a 2021 and 2020 CBUS Top Picks – BEST CAMP FOR KIDS. Suburban Propane made a generous donation to the farm, Joe Sam from Good Day Columbus visited Winter Camp, and Columbus Underground wrote an article about the farm.
