Northview Boys Basketball Camps

Sylvania Recreation offers organized youth baseball and softball, lacrosse, and soccer programs. The program is run by Sylvania Recreation Corporation and includes opportunities for junior high and high school students, as well as adults, to referee for these youth sports.

Open since 1988, Sylvania Recreation reports serving 50,000 residents annually and 635,000 facility visitors annually, and holding 75 special events each year. The leadership team includes roles such as Recreation Services Director, Athletics Manager, multiple Athletics Program Coordinators, an Executive Director, and managers for marketing, fundraising and development, accounting, special events, venue maintenance, concessions, facilities and maintenance, and aquatics. The stated mission emphasizes the role of volunteer coaches in youth sports, requires volunteer coaches to meet established criteria and guidelines for each program, and states that every player is to be provided with an opportunity to have a positive youth sports experience. The mission also states that Sylvania Recreation strives to provide coaches with educational tools and resources related to youth and parents in the community.

Sylvania Recreation notes that team, league, and facility sponsorship packages are available. The program has a partnership with DICK’S Sporting Goods, which provides an in-kind donation each year to help offset costs of the Athletic Scholarship Program and to help provide necessary equipment each season for athletic programs, reward volunteer coaches, offer scholarship opportunities to those in need, and provide discounts and promotions to families in athletic programs.
