Courageous Acres

Courageous Acres offers weekly camping sessions, day camps, and overnight camp sessions. Campers may paint, garden, complete craft projects, swim, take part in recreational activities, go to campfires and karaoke, fish, and climb trees. The camp has a pool.

Programs

• Courageous Acres — 5 through adulthood; children, teenagers, and adults of all ages · weekly camping sessions; 2026 summer camp season; day camps and overnight camp sessions
• Courageous Connections — adults over 18 with an I/DD diagnosis · 9:00-2:00, Monday through Friday · Adaptive, personalized Adult Day Support (ADS) program for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• People First of Toledo — individuals with developmental disabilities · meetings are the third Thursday of every month at the Holland Library · Self-advocacy group run by and for individuals with developmental disabilities to learn and advocate for themselves and others like them.
• Peer Buddies — non-disabled children and a disabled peer · runs alongside the Courageous Acres day camp program · Inclusive peer buddy program that matches non-disabled children with a disabled peer for a week of fun out at camp.

About the provider

Courageous Acres began in the 1960s. In 1963, family members of individuals with disabilities came together to build a safe, accessible summer camp for their children. Courageous Community Services says Courageous Acres is its biggest and longest-running program.

Participants must be medically stable and not pose a safety risk to themselves or others (behaviorally, physically, or sexually). Courageous Acres reserves the right to determine eligibility for camp participation. Courageous Community Services also reserves the right to dismiss any participant at any time due to illness, injury, or behaviors that may compromise safety or well-being.
