About

Kirkmont Center Summer Camp includes outdoor activities such as canoeing, fishing, swimming, paddle boarding, and hiking. Campers use two different ponds, with one set aside for nature study and one for canoeing and fishing, along with access to cliffs, natural ravines, and wilderness areas. The camp setting includes seven miles of hiking trails, a natural fen, and facilities that range from rustic to more developed options.

Kirkmont Center Summer Camp is part of Kirkmont Center, a summer camp, conference, and retreat center with a heritage that dates back to 1963, founded as an independent non-profit organization by the Presbyterian Church USA in 1963. The organization states that it is dedicated to outdoor experiences of discovery, learning, and wonder, so that individuals and groups grow in their relationship to God, one another, and the earth. Kirkmont Center reports that it strives to be a welcoming and inclusive place for all people, and that hunting is strictly prohibited at all times and in all places on Kirkmont property. Naturalists classify the land Kirkmont uses as one of the most unique parcels in the State of Ohio.

The Executive Director of Kirkmont Center is Sara Metzler. The 2025 Board of Directors includes Rev. Dave Bartley (Board Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair), Lindsey Christolear (Finance Committee Member), McGregor Dixon (Finance Committee Member), Rev. Cliff Haddox (Member of Marketing and Programming Committees), Ken Krieger (Board Vice Chair, Fundraising Committee Chair and Governance Committee Member), Valerie Kronson (Marketing Committee Member), Kristie Marcum Rezanka (Board Chair, Marketing Committee Member and Chair of Personnel and Governance Committees), Jim Martin (Facilities and Grounds Committee Member), Sara Metzler (Kirkmont Executive Director, Member of All Committees, Board ex-officio), Austin Shell (Marketing Committee Chair and Programming Committee Member), Bruce Smith (Member of Fundraising and Programming Committees), Drew Statt (Programming Committee Chair), and Samantha Wantz (Board Secretary and Facilities & Grounds Committee Chair).

Kirkmont Center serves public and private school groups, non-profit organizations, youth groups, sports teams, music and art associations, churches and faith based groups of all denominations, families, businesses, and individuals. The Kirkmont Memories Project, created by board member Valerie Kronson as a capstone project at The Ohio State University, involved interviews and surveys of Kirkmont alumni and friends to gather a collective story of the camp’s history and perceptions of the value of camp.
