Art Programs

Art Programs uses art as a way to communicate and tell amazing stories. The program includes DUETS, which pairs autistic artists with neurotypical artists based on shared interests; LookOut, where artists 10 and up submit pieces for consideration for art shows and art classes; Bee's Knees, a weekly small group that works on new art pieces; Swanky, a two-week program that joins professional artists with young adults to create a gallery of original works using a variety of mediums; and Little Swanky, a one-week program for ages 4 to 7.

• DUETS — Pairs autistic artists with neurotypical artists based on shared interests.
• LookOut — 10 and up · A program for artists 10 and up to submit pieces for consideration for presentation at art shows and art classes.
• Bee's Knees — Meets weekly · A small group that meets regularly to do something fun; promotes independence and building new skills; works together on new art pieces.
• Swanky — Two-week program · Joins professional artists with young adults to create a gallery of original works using a variety of mediums.
• Little Swanky — 4 to 7 years old · One-week program · A one-week program for the youngest artists, held at Good Shepherd School, and led by two artists who are on the autism spectrum.

About the provider

Bee's Knees has been meeting for over 11 years. Bee's Knees art has been displayed at the state capital and has been commissioned for offices. It has also participated in art exhibits and been featured in art galleries. Big Swanky Art Show is attended annually by more than 400 guests. AutismOklahoma was founded by parents in Oklahoma in 2002.

AutismOklahoma programs are free or nearly free and are funded by donations.
