About

Family & Children’s Services Parenting Classes offers Active Parenting: The First Five Years for birth up to age 5 in a four-week program. It also offers Active Parenting Now for 5- to 12-year-olds in a six-week program, with topics including cooperation, effective discipline, logical consequences, and teaching responsibility. For ages 13 and older, Active Parenting for Teens is a six-week class covering teens and technology, teen drug use prevention, teen bullying, brain development, discipline and communication, and teen sexuality issues.

  • Cooperative Parenting & Divorce — six-week class
  • Focus on Family: Surviving High Conflict — two-session, interactive, web-based course · Learn how to handle high conflict situations with your co-parent and develop new skills to resolve conflicts, improve communication, let go of the past relationship, and keep your focus on the kids.

At a glance

  • Ages: 0–18 years old
  • General schedule: Classes are not held on major holidays. You may begin at any time during an ongoing class, although you are encouraged to start at the beginning of a series. You must sign in each week or your attendance will not be counted. Attend the classes in succession. If you miss a session, it will be six to eight weeks before the topic is offered again. If you have not attended class for six months, you will be required to start again. Make-up classes are not offered.

Family & Children’s Services says it has been serving families since 1921. Its mission is to promote, support, and strengthen the well-being and behavioral health of adults, children, and families.
