Since 1993, Let’s Talk Science Outreach has had nearly 23 million interactions with youth, educators and volunteers. The program’s mission is building a stronger Canada by supporting youth skill development and career awareness. Activities are led by highly educated and trained UWindsor science undergraduate and graduate students. The program has a volunteer community of more than 2,200 volunteers and provides training, activity kits, funding and materials through a local coordinator. It offers self-paced and live opportunities for volunteers to grow their skills, including career exploration, activity development, and inclusive outreach. Let’s Talk Science Outreach engages and inspires youth with hands-on science activities that increase their understanding and appreciation of the world around them, makes connections with students, teachers, and community groups in Windsor and Essex County, and reaches communities from coast to coast to coast in every province and territory. Recognized program awards include the Equity Project Award, the National Volunteer Award, The David Colcleugh Leadership Award for Let's Talk Science Outreach Coordinators, and the Margaret Stephens Professional Development Bursary. The outreach program is brought to participants at no cost thanks to its donors and offers free programming for early years to grade 12.
