Haven's Urban Movement Dance Camps

Haven's Urban Movement Dance Camps include themed options such as Descendants Dance Camp, Urban Movement Dance Camp, WICKED Dance Camp, and an Urban Movement Intensive. Camp activities include learning choreography in jazz and hip hop, learning the basics of dance, across the floor technique, flexibility training, fun themed crafts, and choreography in styles including jazz, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, fusion, improv, and musical theater. Additional classes at the studio include Ballet, Jazz & Jazz Tech, Hip Hop, Musical Theater, and an Urban Stars class for dancers with special needs or disabilities.

Haven’s Urban Movement is a pre-professional industry style training studio with an innovative, urban feel and a motto to work hard and stay HUMble. The studio offers alternating instructors and pop-up classes that give the feel of an industry setting, and dancers attend conventions, competitions, and local exhibitions. Haven’s Urban Movement was established in July of 2018 and is owned and directed by Haven Barrett. Haven Barrett has extensive training in ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, and hip hop, has choreographed for multiple school teams and productions, has taught at several studios, and has received choreography awards for hip-hop crews and contemporary companies. The studio offers an Urban Stars class specifically designed for dancers with special needs or disabilities for ages 10 and up, and provides a free trial class upon request via contact form. Urban Movement Camp t-shirts are included with the Urban Movement Dance Camp and the Urban Movement Intensive.

Haven’s Urban Movement has received several awards, including the 2024 KRKT Listeners Choice Award, the 2023 Best Dance School in Albany “Best of Albany Award,” and the 2022 Regional Grand Champion Studio award from West Coast Elite. For camps, families are asked to send dancers with water, a healthy snack, and dance shoes such as ballet slippers, jazz shoes, half soles, or clean tennis shoes, and dancers are asked to wear non-restrictive clothing such as dancewear or athleticwear with hair pulled back and out of the face. Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 4 PM to 7 PM, and business hours are Monday through Thursday from 4 PM to 9 PM, with the studio closed Friday through Sunday.
