Ashland Danceworks offers classes in Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Tap, Musical Theatre Dance, Ballet, Jazz, and Barre fitness. The program offers classes for any level of dancer from beginning to advanced and includes diverse class options such as Hip-Hop, Jazz, Ballet, and more. Instruction emphasizes technique, body awareness, strength, conditioning, balance, and versatility in a positive and professional environment.
Founded in 2001, Ashland Danceworks states that it has been enriching lives through dance since that time. The studio describes itself as a premier dance and Barre fitness studio and is dedicated to providing top-quality dance education in a nurturing environment. Its mission is to empower individuals through the art of dance, fostering self-expression, confidence, and a lifelong love for movement.
Creative Director and owner Aisha Wand has produced 16 productions for Ashland Danceworks and has choreographed for Children’s Musical Theater (CMTO) and Oregon Children’s Theater productions of The Wizard of Oz, Grease, West Side Story, and Fame. She began her studies in Ballet and Jazz in Honolulu, Hawaii, trained in Jazz Funk, African, Hula, Tahitian, and Hip Hop, and began dancing professionally in Hawaii at age 17 in off-Broadway musicals, local shows, conventions, and commercials. She performed at Hawaii Theater as a dancer and backup singer in Dreamgirls, West Side Story, and Grease, studied at The Edge Studios and Broadway Dance Center, and appeared in MTV and VH1 music videos, commercials, and stage performances with recording artists such as Prince, Morris Day, The Boys, and Exposé in the early 1990s. Instructor Suzanne Seiber received her MA in Dance from the University of Oregon, teaches Tap, Musical Theatre Dance, and Ballet at Southern Oregon University, and has choreographed for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Oregon Cabaret Theatre, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, and 24 years of musicals at Ashland High School. She has studied tap with Brenda Bufalino, Acia Gray, Dianne Walker, and Denise Pennington Scheerer.
Dancer Bella Lemhouse has performed with Danceworks at venues such as Disneyland, local Halloween, Christmas, and 4th of July parades, OSF Green Shows, and MLK Jr. Celebrations.
