• Ages: 3–13 years old
Ashbrook Independent School was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1993 and opened in September 1997, and the school is celebrating over 25 years of educational excellence. The school is a non-profit, secular, private, coeducational institution that includes a preschool, an elementary school, and a middle school, with consistently small class sizes in all grade levels. Ashbrook’s mission is to challenge and nurture academically capable students, and the school monitors the effectiveness of its programs with standardized testing and makes the results freely available. The school describes a Beginning School for ages 3–4, a Lower School for Kindergarten through 4th grade, and a Middle School for 5th through 8th grade. Ashbrook Independent School states that it is an equal opportunity institution and does not discriminate in employment, admission practices, or access to programs on the basis of listed protected characteristics. The campus is located on a 12.5-acre parcel that adjoins Starker Arts Park and is bordered by ash trees along a brook. A 2021 8th grade graduate stated, “One of the best things to happen to me at Ashbrook was that I grew so much as a person.” The school notes strong parent-school-community participation and collaboration, with parent volunteers needed and welcomed in Lower School classes and in sports, theater arts, and engineering projects programs, and describes its roots as firmly planted in the community.
