Creswell Clubhouse is a local nonprofit youth development program created specifically for the community of Creswell and has been a local nonprofit since 2009. Clubhouse began as a school program in 2005, was granted 501c3 nonprofit status in September of 2009, and celebrated its 10 year anniversary in 2020. The organization has been serving children in Creswell for 8 years and as its own nonprofit for 15 years. The program was originally created in partnership with the Creswell School District, United Way of Lane County and the University of Oregon, and it has a partnership with the City of Creswell. The program belongs to the children served, their families and the community of Creswell and provides service learning opportunities and Community Helpers activities for Clubhouse, school and community.

Creswell Clubhouse’s mission states that it is designed to provide young people with a safe and healthy place to practice reading skills, receive help with homework, utilize computer resources and participate in educationally enriching activities after school, and that it strives to build stronger physical, intellectual and emotional support systems for students while fostering responsible choice making. Everyone attends at least one Brain Zone session per day and two educationally enriching clubs of their choice, and reading takes place 20 minutes per day. Children earn “Clubhouse Bucks” during Brain Zone to purchase prizes at a Clubhouse “store,” and enrichment club sign-ups take place four times per year. The program focuses on supplementing the school day with enriching and engaging programs and provides classes, clubs and activities not otherwise available in the community while keeping costs low.

Tutoring is provided by University of Oregon program leaders, and homework assistance is provided by Clubhouse University of Oregon Program Leaders and Tutors, volunteers and peers. The leadership team includes Michelle Amberg, Creswell City Manager. The program model includes social skills development, leadership development, service learning, fine arts, recreation, performance arts, science, conflict resolution, and large motor activities. Creswell Clubhouse has been granted 501c3 nonprofit status.
