HOPE Equestrian Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing therapeutic horseback riding to individuals with physical, emotional and learning disabilities. HOPE has been in operation in the Rogue Valley since 1988 and has been in operation since 1994. The program provides therapeutic horseback riding to special needs individuals throughout southern Oregon and offers classes for all ages in group or private lessons. Instructors and staff design and monitor individualized lesson plans based on input from doctors, therapists, teachers and parents, and students are evaluated regularly with goals set to address their physical, emotional and social needs.

As an affiliate center member with the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA), HOPE Equestrian Center abides by NARHA’s standards of professionalism and safety. Instructors are dedicated professionals who are required to be members of NARHA and are currently NARHA certified or in the process of certification. Volunteers form the backbone of the organization, with over 50 volunteers donating time and energy to assist with horses and riders and to help with special events and clerical tasks throughout the year.

The organization gives special thanks to sponsors including Rotary International, Summit Animal Health, Impact Project A, LubriSyn/HA, Lithia, The Carpenter Foundation, Viking Concrete Foundation, Naumes, Suncrest Winery, Re-Borne, Rogue Broadband, All Natural Pest Elimination, Morse Law, Lexus, Jim Teece & Dena Mathews Foundation, HMK, RCU, All Weather Wood, and Mandy. Its community-based board of directors includes people in veterinary medicine, medicine, therapy, education, ranching, parents of special needs children, and local businesses. Generous donations from individuals and businesses in local communities, along with those from regional and national organizations, enable HOPE Equestrian Center to continue to serve those with little or no financial resources.
