About

Elkton Community Education Center Youth Programs include activities such as guided tours and local crafts. The program takes place on a 43-acre site that features a butterfly pavilion, a historic trading fort called Fort Umpqua, extensive flower gardens, a native plant park and nursery, a library, art exhibits, and walking trails. The Native Plant Nursery is fully operational, and there is an online store for veggie starts, perennials, and native shrubs.

At the 25th Anniversary Celebration, Elkton Community Education Center shared news about the future of its leadership. The leadership team includes Marie Montgomery as Co-Executive Director of Operations, Deb Gritton as Co-Executive Director of Programs, and Marjory Hamann as outgoing Executive Director. Collaborative work with local community groups and service providers has built partnerships, and during COVID-19 restrictions, Elkton Community Education Center has supported the community while encouraging people to stay at home and stay safe. The Outpost Mobile Food Pantry continues to come twice a month, and Elkton Community Education Center is developing a service to bring fresh vegetable boxes to Elkton to reduce the number of trips people need to take to other communities.
