About

Summer Youth Sports Camp is a program that has been sponsored by the Gold Hill Community Development Organization (CanDO). The camp is one of several youth-focused activities supported by CanDO, alongside events such as Hanby Middle School's Holiday Cookie College and Gold Hill Merchants Association promotions, including the annual Milk Jug Race. The organization has also supported related recreational projects, such as a network of trails to better access the Rogue River and improvements connected to Gold Hill Sports Park and the Tom Fish Memorial Skate Park.

CanDO, which sponsors Summer Youth Sports Camp, is a non-partisan, grass-roots, non-profit corporation of motivated volunteers. The organization was incorporated in the year 2000. Its stated mission is: “CanDO Gold Hill Enhancing the quality of life for all residents.” Through small community grants and volunteer efforts, CanDO supports many projects making Gold Hill a more vital place to live, including the summer youth sports camp. CanDO has written grants for Gold Hill Sports Park to resurface the tennis courts, build public restrooms, and for phases of the Tom Fish Memorial Skate Park, and it received the Fire District 3 Scarlett Award for its partnership on community cleanup projects with Fire District 3.
