About
Brawley Farms Riding Lessons offers English horseback riding lessons that include hunter/jumper disciplines, dressage fundamentals, equitation, and horsemanship. Riders take part in grooming, tacking, horse handling on the ground, and may progress to jumping courses at the 2–3' level, trail rides, and competing at local schooling shows and rated A-level competitions.
• Ages: 7–18 years old
• Schedule: Lessons range from 30 minutes to an hour and a half; private lessons run approximately 30–45 minutes, semi-private lessons last 45 minutes to 1 hour, and group lessons with three or more riders typically run 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Brawley Farms Riding Lessons uses a carefully selected group of seasoned lesson horses chosen for temperament, reliability, and the ability to provide a safe yet challenging learning experience, with lesson horses capable of taking riders from their first lesson through jumping courses at the 2–3' level. All beginners start with one-on-one instruction that includes around 30 minutes of hands-on grooming and tacking both before and after their ride, and riders are required to take two lessons per week in order to progress at a safe and steady pace. Instruction also covers equine behavior, feeding, basic veterinary care, and the day-to-day responsibilities of horse care, with an emphasis on developing true horsemen and horsewomen, not just riders.
The staff is described as knowledgeable, highly trained individuals who bring years of experience in both horsemanship and instruction. The program is part of a family-owned legacy founded by Judy Brawley and nurtured by generations of the Brawley family, with multiple family-run locations (South, North, and Texas) that collaborate on the A-circuit. The leadership team includes Judy Brawley, Tom Brawley, Milla Rindal, Debbie Brawley, Rachael Nicholas, Bob Brawley, and Morgan Brawley. Brawley Farms has a legacy spanning more than fifty years in equestrian education and competitive success and has taken several students to prestigious equitation finals in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York.
The mission of Brawley Farms is to unite decades of tradition and expertise with a supportive, professional environment, ensuring that every rider has the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential, whether that means building confidence, mastering new skills, or competing at the highest levels of the sport. Brawley Farms serves riders and horse owners from surrounding communities and the broader Willamette Valley and beyond.
