Lake Oswego Academy of Dance Camps

Lake Oswego Academy of Dance offers Hip Hop, Jazz, Jazz Funk, Tap, Fairytale Ballet, Ballet, Pre-Pointe/Pointe, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Jazz/Ballet/Tap classes. Fairytale Ballet is for ages 3 and 4 and combines storytelling and ballet basics. The Jazz/Ballet/Tap class is for younger dancers and teaches the fundamentals of jazz, ballet, and tap in each class.

Programs

• Hip Hop — all ages not stated · Upbeat class where dancers infuse their own personality and style into learned moves.
• Jazz — Incorporates new age stylistic jazz with old school classical elements; focuses on strengthening technique and exploration of jazz dancing.
• Jazz Funk — Combines Jazz technique including kicks, jumps, and turns with an upbeat Hip Hop style.
• Tap — Variety of styles including broadway, post-modern, traditional and rhythmic tapping; reinforces rhythm, technique, coordination, presentation and style.
• Fairytale Ballet — ages 3 and 4 · Perfect first class for youngest dancers; combines storytelling and ballet basics.
• Ballet — Basis of all dance; helps with technique, poise, posture, balance, strength and fluid movement.
• Pre-Pointe / Pointe — Designed for the advanced dancer with a strong ballet background; evaluations are required to be accepted onto Pointe.
• Contemporary — Combines several styles including jazz, ballet, modern and lyrical; fluid, challenging and creative.
• Lyrical — Focuses on a combination of ballet and jazz styles; choreography is influenced by lyrics and emotions of a song.
• Jazz / Ballet / Tap — younger dancers · Combination class where dancers learn fundamentals of jazz, ballet and tap in every class.

About the provider

Lake Oswego Academy of Dance has 36 years of excellence and is celebrating 34 years of quality dance instruction in Lake Oswego. Its mission is to provide dancers with a professional and nurturing environment where discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and respect for each other are a priority. Rebecca Harris Wear is the Studio Director, and Marisa Menkins is the Artistic Director. The studio received the Studio of Excellence award from the Association of Dance Competitions and Conventions at the Spotlight Dance Cup last year, and instructors and staff are CPR and First Aid certified.

Regular studio and shoppe hours are Mon-Thu 2-8pm, Fri 2-6pm, Sat 9-11am. New dancers are encouraged to commit to at least a season. Open and drop in classes are offered for fitness and fun. Annual recital is mentioned. Located at 16250 SW Bryant Rd, Lake Oswego, OR 97035.
